Wolves Take Command in Denver, Putting Nuggets on Brink
Anthony Edwards Leads the Charge
The Minnesota Timberwolves have seized control of their Western Conference semifinals series against the Denver Nuggets, taking a commanding 106-99 victory in Game 1. The Nuggets, who have been the NBA's best team all season, now find themselves in an unfamiliar position: trailing in a playoff series.
Edwards' Dominance
Anthony Edwards led the way for the Timberwolves, scoring 27 points and grabbing 10 rebounds. The young star was aggressive from the start, attacking the rim and drawing fouls. He also hit several key three-pointers, including a dagger late in the fourth quarter.
Nuggets Struggle to Adjust
The Nuggets struggled to adjust to Edwards' aggressiveness, and their defense was unable to contain him. Nikola Jokic, the reigning MVP, was held to just 20 points on 8-of-19 shooting. The Nuggets also shot just 25% from three-point range.
The series now shifts to Minnesota, where the Timberwolves will have a chance to take a 2-0 lead. The Nuggets will need to make some major adjustments if they want to get back into the series.
